Valve is rumored to be developing their own console, currently known as "Steam Box". Steam Box is developed with the idea of a low-cost and micro-sized PC that would be able to play all of Steam's games. The baseline specs of Steam Box is reported to be a Intel Core i7 CPU, 8GB RAM, and an Nvidia GPU, which would run pretty much any PC games in high quality.
Maybe for once, I might consider getting a console. I mean heck, a console with specs better than what my PC currently have? Shut up and take my money! It's great to see Valve venturing into consoles, and not just sticking to the PC platform. Although Valve has not confirmed any of the reports yet, they should be making announcements in the near future.

interesting idea but they're up against a tough market
ReplyDeleteThat would be a great idea, might actually buy it too.
ReplyDeleteSounds like an interesting idea, I hope they'll convert it!
ReplyDeleteI'd buy 10 of those!
ReplyDeleteI ejaculated.
ReplyDeleteI would love it if they did, and I would probably more than likely okay most definitely buy one.
ReplyDeleteI would buy this without even thinking. Valve is easily the best developer of all time. This would probably also mean my console TF2 would look the same as my PC TF2, I hate playing FPS's with a mouse.
ReplyDeleteValve is one of the few game companies that actually listens to the players.
DeleteThis is interesting to me. I'll keep a watchful eye out for news on this.
ReplyDeleteThat's awesome!!! If it has blu ray i'm going to get one!
ReplyDeleteWait wait...a "low cost" gaming console thats better than my PC?
ReplyDeleteIM IN!
Exactly!
DeleteVery interesting idea to say the least.
ReplyDeleteI won't believe it until I hear it from Gaben's own mouth
ReplyDeleteHe's gonna call it the GabeCube
Deletewhile it's a platform it's a far cry from a console
ReplyDeletea structured hardware will make it easier for developers as consoles do but in effect it's still just a pc
though I must say I'd be very interesting in seeing what kind of OS they put together
Wow. I mean, I was never interested in consoles, I was always a PC gamer.. But a console made by Steam! This is the people that I trust with quality, so I would probably consider it if went out!
ReplyDeleteThat is interesting...but I am not sure how low Steam can go cost-wise...
ReplyDeleteA steam console sounds pretty sweet
